Discover Cafe

With a team of fellows, we conducted interviews with stakeholders, local community cafes, and future clients to understand the user needs, gaps in community cafes in West Oakland, and users’ perceptions of Discover Community Cafe’s brand.
After mapping our findings, we discovered a pressing concern among stakeholders: the lack of a coherent brand.

We developed and tested a social media strategy with three content pillars that aligned with Discover’s three “North Stars.” Instagram engagement increased 137% during our tests.
We compiled these findings and created a simple but detailed brand and social media guide document, sample content ideas, sample content calendar, and templates so Discover’s founder could create a digital marketing process and strategy that fits her needs and capabilities following the completion of our fellowship.
